RailPulse Pt. 2
As a follow up to last week’s post on RailPulse, I think I, once again, rubbed some people the wrong way. Let me reiterate again that I’m 100% supportive of the initiative. It’s not easy to create change in an industry like freight rail and the RailPulse coalition, particularly its founding members, should be applauded for the work they’ve done and their willingness to go against the grain. The industry desperately needs both greater operational transparency and improved data integration into the broader supply chain. Anything that brings that about should be celebrated.
Let me also restate that the reason I wrote last week’s article wasn’t to dump on RailPulse. They picked a hard row to hoe, namely “innovation by committee” in an industry with many structural constraints towards mass adoption of anything. My intent in writing the article was to highlight several lessons that can be learned from their experience specifically and technology adoption generally.
